Profile of Joseph Grano

Joseph Grano is the current chief executive officer and chairperson of Centurion Holdings LLC, advisor to various American firms. Grano started out as an employee at Merrill Lynch, where he worked for 16 years. At one point, he became the company’s national sales director, among other high-tier executive roles. After Merrill Lynch, Joseph Grano chaired UBS PaineWebber (now UBS Financial Services). His experience in the field is exemplary among American businessmen. In 2000, the School of Business at Georgetown University hailed him the Business Leader of the Year. Two years later, Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund honored him with the Award for Corporate Leadership. Grano is also the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 1996; the La Bellissima America Award in 1998; and the USO Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service in 2000. Outside Centurion, Grano keeps memberships in a wide spectrum of boards. More recently, in 2008, he became a board member of IPSA International. He has chaired other boards before, e.g. the National Association Securities Dealers’ Board of Governors and the Queens College Foundation’s Board of Trustees. He has also sat on the boards of YMCA - Greater New York, D.A.R.E., and Lenox Hills Hospital. He was also affiliated with the Business Leadership Council of the University of New York. President George W. Bush delegated Joseph Grano as chairperson of the Homeland Security Advisory Council between 2002 and 2005.
